Great is thy faithfulness...

October 9, 2011

Singing that this morning amongst other believers was a beautiful, beautiful thing.  All in one, singing to the glory of God.  Thanking for his unending and everlasting faithfulness to his children- who are always unfaithful.  Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me...

You know how some of the verses in the Bible seem to "pop out" more to you than others?  Jesus, innocently hung on the cross calls out "Abba, Abba, why have you forsaken me?"  That's one verse in the Bible that always cuts me.  We are so lucky you know.  God has never and will never forsake anyone- except his son- that one time on the cross, he was forced to forsake the holy and innocent lamb.  It hurts to think how much grace and love was shown to us.  For God to allow his son to be sacrificed... for us sinners.

Watching from heaven, his one and only son being murdered by Jews was no easy thing for God to do.  He gave up his son, he let us- US- sacrifice an innocent thing that he loved.  How many of us would let a loved one go to the alter to be sacrificed for ungrateful people.  Jesus saves- and God gives.

Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
"Great is Thy faithfulness!" "Great is Thy faithfulness!"
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    "Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

God is merciful, and full of grace.  Thank you Father for giving your only begotten son to us sinners.
